Approximately 9 million pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products have been recalled by Tyson Foods. Although Tyson Foods issued the recall, some prepackaged meals including chicken may also be impacted by the recall.
A news release published by the Food Safety and Inspection Service explained two people were reported ill with listeriosis and the Centers for Disease Control found there was a link back to precooked chicken produced at Tyson Foods Inc. In response, Tyson Foods recalled about 8,955,296 pounds of products initially due to possible Listeria contamination.
Packages of the recalled foods are frozen, fully cooked chicken and were produced between December 26, 2020 and April 13, 2021. An extensive list of the recalled product codes and labels can be found on the USDA website. The latest update clarified that while Tyson announced a recall on their products, the affected chicken may be included in other prepackaged food items
