YouTuber Remi Cruz, 26, started her own rendition of the Food Network on her channel with 2.5M subscribers — “Cooking with Remi” — and is excited to share her love of food and her Korean upbringing through her recipes.
“For almost 10 years on YouTube, I’ve done so many cooking videos throughout my makeup, fashion and homemaking content,” Cruz told The Post. “I would call making lunch on my channel, ‘Cooking with Remi,’ and when I was in a lull with my main channel, I decided to go all out and make ‘Cooking with Remi’ a produced show.”
“Both of my parents are Korean and my mom always cooked Korean food growing up,” she said. “I loved learning about my culture, so once I moved out on my own, I started having cravings for specific Korean foods I couldn’t get anymore.” Her mom would talk through one of her favorite meals over the phone, and then she would add her own “twists” to it, she described.
To supplement her filmed cooking tutorials, the lifestyle vlogger-turned-relatable chef also launched a website, which acts as a hub for her viewers and recipe-seekers to discover the next meal on their plates.
“I didn’t realize how many Asian and Korean viewers I had who felt so connected, and I would get comments all the time saying they felt so connected through these videos,” she adds.
And, Cruz is only getting started. Her first few episodes reveal how to make party snacks, “drunchies” — the “quintessential term” she labels to describe her drunk cravings, and her favorite foods from fairs.
“Now, I’m getting more into recipe testing, but for right now, my recipes surround what people in my everyday life are asking for,” she said. “My boyfriend recommends foods I’ve made in the past, so it’s good to have a sounding board.”

- Breakfast: “Whenever I have a slower morning, my sweet potato hash is healthy and comforting, so I love to make that,” she explains.
- Lunch: “It’s pretty basic [no podcast pun intended], but I love bread, so a turkey and avocado sandwich is what I usually go for, especially when I’m working and have to make something quick,” she shares.
- Dinner: “For dinner, it depends on how I’m feeling, but I’ll usually have salmon or chicken, veggies, and some kind of starch — if I’m feeling healthy,” she said. “But, if I’m feeling not-so-healthy, one of my favorites is making Korean barbecue at home.”
- Dessert: “I’m an ice cream person, and I always have either ice cream or a popsicle,” she said. “I love Cold Stone’s chocolate ice cream or Cherry Garcia from Ben & Jerry’s.”
