Welcome to IGN’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 guide! This section will tell you everything you need to know about the new cooking feature coming in the free update and list all the available recipes you’ll be able to cook.
When is cooking coming to Animal Crossing New Horizons?
In the October 15, 2021 special Animal Crossing New Horizons direct, Nintendo announced that cooking would be a new feature included with the 2.0 update. The free content will be available November 5, 2021. As such, we don’t have all the details about cooking yet, but we’ll keep updating this page as the content drops, so don’t forget to come back and learn more!
What will I be able to cook, and where?
So far it seems cooking will be done entirely in your home with special furniture items purchased from Timmy and Tommy’s shop, such as the stoneware kitchen. The Direct video says players will be able to make and display multiple food items, including soup, pizza and deserts to eat or display in your house. It’s not clear yet if cooked food will be giftable.
What kinds of crops will I be able to grow and cook in Animal Crossing New Horizons?
The 2.0 update for ACNH will at least include sugar cane, potatoes, tomatoes, wheat, carrots and more. These seem to be grown in the same way that pumpkins are, then harvested and cooked in various recipes. Based on the direct footage it seems the same rules about watering crops to get a bigger harvest still apply!
