Christmas

Reindeer Hot Chocolate — the cutest edible gift this holiday season! Add hot chocolate mix, chocolate chips, and marshmallows to a cone-shaped bag and decorate to look like Reindeer (specifically Rudolph). Put a smile on your kid’s face or gift out to neighbors, friends, co-workers, family, etc.

Try some of our most popular Christmas treats like these Christmas Oreo Truffles, Christmas Donuts (made to look like Rudolph!), or Christmas Oreo Pops.

Reindeer Hot Chocolate

Several years ago I shared these gift-able Christmas Mason Jars. They have continued to be one of the most popular Christmas posts every single December. And the jar I see made the most on social media is the Reindeer Jar

So, I’m very excited to share these Reindeer Hot Chocolate cones with you all this year. They’re so fun to assemble and they make a great, inexpensive gift. This year, I got my kids involved in the process of making these. My boys each made a bunch to give out to all their friends (and a couple to keep themselves, naturally)!…And my daughter mostly just ate the marshmallows– you win some and you lose some! 🙂

Here’s What You’ll Need For Reindeer Hot Chocolate Packets!

Heads-up, the below are affiliate links meaning we get a small commission at no additional cost to you; thanks for your support!

  • Cone-Shaped Cellophane Bags
  • Hot Chocolate Mix. Grab your favorite hot chocolate mix and flavor. Avoid mixes with dehydrated marshmallows since we’re adding in marshmallows.
  • Chocolate Chips. Grab your favorite flavor: semi-sweet, milk, or dark. We like mini chocolate chips best, but regular sized work great too! You could also grab a baking bar and chop it up to add in here.
  • Mini Marshmallows. The softer the marshmallows, the better! No shame in feeling the bags at the store before purchasing!

QUICK TIP

We’ve gotten this variety pack of hot chocolates before and there are some delicious flavors. These unique flavors would make some fun Reindeer Hot Chocolate packets!

Reindeer Hot Chocolate Materials (Continued)

  • Googly eyes. Grab whatever size you like best, we prefer smaller sized!
  • Red (or brown) pom-poms. 1-inch in size. Use red for “Rudolph” or brown for regular Reindeer hot chocolate!
  • Red (or brown) pipe cleaners. Again, whatever you prefer–brown will give more of an antler look while red delivers more of a festive color pop.
  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks. We use glue sticks in a glue gun to attach the eyes and nose!

Reindeer Hot Chocolate Cones: Tips

  • Add piping bag to a tall cup–this will make dropping the ingredients in simple!
  • After adding the cocoa mix, wipe down the inside of the bag with a paper towel or napkin to keep the layers clear and distinct
  • Make sure the hot glue isn’t too hot or it could melt the bag!

Instructions

  • ASSEMBLE: Open a cellophane bag and arrange in a cup for easy assembly. Gently add in the hot chocolate mix. Use a paper towel or napkin to wipe down the sides from powder (to keep clean looking layers). Drop in miniature chocolate chips (as many as you’d like) and then miniature marshmallows (as many as you’d like again).

  • DECORATE: Twist the top and secure a pipe cleaner on top. Fold the pipe cleaner to look like antlers or curl for decoration. Use a hot glue gun to attach pom-pom and eyes on the front of the bag. Gift away or enjoy!

  • ENJOY: To prepare the hot chocolate, add 1 cup hot water or milk, stir and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Note 1: Decorating Supplies: We use these Googly eyes, these red pom-poms (grab 1-inch), and these red pipe cleaners. (You could use brown pom-poms for a regular reindeer and use brown pipe cleaners to look more like antlers if desired). Use a hot glue gun & glue sticks to attach the eyes and nose!
