A Sioux Falls food truck best known for its chicken, wings and soul food has opened up a restaurant just east of downtown.
Randle’s Kitchen held a soft opening Thursday at its new permanent spot at 114 North Indiana Avenue.
Co-owner Shona Randle, who runs the business with her daughter Jordan, said they saw a wonderful response from new and returning customers over the weekend.
“I love to cook, it’s kind of my thing,” Shona Randle said. “We think it’s a win-win, just from the response this week. I’m super excited about it.”

Randle makes everything fresh at the restaurant, except for her fries and mozzarella sticks, she said. The mother-daughter duo can do it all: wings; hand-patted, quarter-pound fresh burgers; chicken sandwiches; fried chicken; collard greens; mac and cheese and more.
Randle’s Kitchen hours are set from 11 a.m. to closing time Tuesday through Sunday. They’ll close whenever traffic dictates, Randle said.
Brunches are planned for weekend mornings from 11 a.m. to about 1 p.m., when they’ll switch over to the regular menu. And on Sundays, the owners plan to host “Soul Food Sundays.”
“I think we’re kind of a niche. I don’t know if there’s anywhere you can get grits, corn bread and macaroni and cheese for breakfast,” Randle said.
The Randles started their food truck in 2014 and ran it through 2017. They revived the truck in early 2021, and now Randle says she plans to keep the truck going in addition to the restaurant over the spring and summer months for different events and catering opportunities.
“The truth of the matter is with a food truck, you’re out there earning your keep every day,” Randle said.
